A Series of Wonderful Events

I saw The Taming of the Shrew a few hours ago. It was amazing! The play was set in the 1950’s and in spite of its terrible and rabid anti-feminism the story still plays well to an audience and I commend the actors for their effort!

Today I got some writing done, it feels good to get back on the Darkness at Trellis Hill finishing first draft project! Crazy thing though, while I was writing it today some, let us say odd, girl comes into Borders. She possesses a demeanor that instantly informs everyone who looks at her that she is not entirely there.

As soon as I think this I lower my eyes to keep writing (I see crazies all the time so it is normal to me anymore!) and not soon after I here this weird tinny sound. I look back up and the girl is singing.

But here is the thing, her headphones are still in, her eyes are closed, and her hands are clenched into fists! She starts getting louder to. I take a second to to take in everyone watching her, because guess what?! The Border’s cafe is full! Everyone is staring at her. The old people have looks of disgust, the children are out right laughing and pointing at her, and her is the sick part.

She knows. She knows and does not care. Please understand that this girl was not ‘special’ in the sense of being disabled or handicapped. No. This girl was weird in a bad way. She was weird in the you would not trust her alone with your kids weird.  She starts singing louder now, like real loud, like loud enough for me to hear her singing with my headphones BLARING.

She does this for forty five minutes, then walks away. I go up to the coffee man and ask him about it and he says she does it once or twice a week, and that they can not make her stop!

She claims some crazy religious intolerance is being levied against her right to express herself.

Crazies, go figure.
